Fused Dichroic Glass Jewelry

Each piece is fired twice to achieve it's brilliance. All jewelry are finished in sterling silver. Dichroic glass is unique glass that is manufactured by spraying a thin chemical film onto the glass. Dichroic means having two colors, one reflects and one transmits.

It is an exciting medium to work with because although each piece is similar, they remain unique.

In the future, I will have various fused art pieces, similar to the Handkerchief Bowl above, available for retail.

Artist's Bio: Whitten Glass Studios - Claudia Whitten
Being a lover and supporter of the arts for many years, I have volunteered numerous times, bringing art into the classroom for public schools. I started working with stained glass in 1981. After a  a few years, I found myself layering glass to create more color and design. Looking for more options, I found that fusing was a natural evolution. So, in 1989, I began working with kiln formed glass and continue to learn and grow. It seems that the possibilities are endless.

I am an avid gardener so my work often expressed my love of flowers and color. Opening the kiln in the morning brings me the same joy as a small child  on Christmas morning. I hope that you enjoy my glass pieces, as much as I enjoy making them.
