If you know  a few simple techniques, it's easy to master Internet searching and researching. The wizards who designed the search engines used very simple search parameters. Here's a few tips to make your surfing less frustrating

Use the following Boolean search terms:
bulletand (+)
bulletor
bulletnot (-)
bulletnear
bullet"(quotes)"

For example:
bulletTyping in surfing and not the Net will probably yield water surfing hits versus every type of surfing, including surfing the Net
bulletTyping in Abbot or Costello will yield everything with Abbot or Costello, if you want to find hits on "Abbot and Costello", type in Abbot and Costello. Better yet, type in "Abbot and Costello" within quotes and that will further narrow down the search
bulletTyping in system near manager will yield results that show the word "system" within close proximity to the word "manager."
bulletTyping in "Abbot and Costello" means the search will only show hits with all three words together.
"Abbot and Costello" = means the search will only show hits with all three words together.

Type in unusual or rare key words
bulletFor example:
alcohol returned 912,620 hits in Alta Vista
vodka returned 120,740 hits
Stolichnaya returned 2745 hits

Capitalize whenever it applies to narrow your search and spell the term correctly.

Use the asterisk (*) as a wild card in your searches

Try different Search Engines. They all gather data differently from each other.

Check the choices within the search engines, i.e. ClipArt, Images, Web Pages, Pictures, etc. (i.e. in Google.com's search page, choose images, and the search engine will only give you image hits. By the way google has some of the best free clip hits)
