The Idaho Commission on the Arts (ICA), established by the legislature in 1966, is charged by
state law to stimulate and encourage throughout the state the study and presentation of
the performing and fine arts, public interest, and participation therein.

Commission grant programs:
Grants to Individual Artists:
Quick Funds: Grants support projects,
activities, or professional development for individuals in all disciplines.
Support activities relevant to the development of an artist's work
and or career in addition to supporting a professional opportunity uniquely
available during a limited time.
Fellowship: Dance, Literature, Media Rights, Music and Theater, Architecture and Design, Crafts and
Visual Arts --awarded to individual artists of exceptional talent in recognition of outstanding
work and commitment to their artistic development
Worksites: Dance, Literature, Media Arts, Music, Theater, Architecture and design, crafts,
Visual Arts --for individual artists in need of project funds, or artists developing collaborative
projects, could be for residency at an artist's colony, release time from work, travel required to
investigate or develop ideas relevant to work in progress. Or an artist interested in working in the
schools could propose a collaboration with students
Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program -- supports the work of folk artists by funding
master/apprenticeship teams.
Idaho Heritage Awards: recognize masters and
tradition bearers for lifetime dedication to the folk traditional arts, as
well as for their commitment to interpreting and passing on their community
cultural and artistic traditions.
Writer-in Residence --highest literary recognition and financial support accorded to an
Idaho writer. With honor and award is responsibility to share work in twelve public, community reading
throughout the state over the two -year term of the residency.
Tumble Words: is a program that brings Idaho
writers and their literature and craft to rural Idaho audiences. Individuals
may also work with organizations on Project Grants and on public art
projects through Cultural Facilities.

Arts in Education Grants
Arts in Education Artist Roster.
Artists in all disciplines interested in working in schools and communities
may apply to be included in the Idaho Arts Education Artist Roster.
Artist in Residence grants that
connect professional artists to a variety of education and community
settings.
Arts as Basic grants for arts education planning and
development.
School Connections: Audiences of Tomorrow
provides support for quality school tours by artists.
QuickFunds grants that provide:
Professional Development for educators, administrators, and Arts in
Education roster artists
--QuickFunds for Individuals.
QuickProject support for arts organizations and schools
--QuickFunds for Organizations.
Creative Alternatives for Youth Grants expand
the Commission's range of support for youth at risk, focusing on substantive
partnerships.

Grants to Organizations:
Quick Funds -- for technical assistance,
professional development, unanticipated arts projects or arts projects
essential to the initial growth of an organization or new program.
General Operating Support --for arts organizations, single or multi-year
Project Grants for fee support or project
support that involves specific arts activities in a community.
Cultural Facilities --feasibility studies, construction, renovation or capital purchase
Technical Assistance --in management or artistic development.
Tumble Words is a
collaborative effort among ten western states to bring writers into
communities where residents may be underexposed to creative writing
because of geographic or economic circumstances.
Arts in Rural Towns
encourages the creation and growth of local arts councils and arts
presenters in Idaho’s rural communities.
Northwest on Tour publishes a roster for use by
local arts councils and presenters in Idaho's rural communities.
School Connections: Audiences of Tomorrow brings professional
performances, exhibits, readings, and hands-on arts education activities
to Idaho students.
Youth-at-Risk funding is available through the Arts in Education
Program.
